Generally, we use the The New International Version (NIV)
but it is good and useful to compare different Bible Versions,
including the King James Bible (KJV) and the Good News Bible
which includes interesting Line Drawings to aid your
understanding.
Another reason is that different versions represent the efforts of scholars to translate original
manuscripts in a way that communicates effectively to a given audience or language group.
Lastly, there are different versions due to the English language changing over time. For many
people today, a Bible translation in Old English will not read or sound like modern English,
making it confusing to read.
Why are there different Bible Versions?
There are many reasons why there are different versions of the
Bible. One of the reasons is because of the number of
manuscripts available. There are over 5,800 Greek New
Testament manuscripts known to date, along with over 10,000
Hebrew Old Testament manuscripts and over 19,000 copies in
Syriac, Coptic, Latin, and Aramaic languages.
