UBC Precautions following Government Relaxations
on Covid Restrictions

As you know, from Monday 19th July 2021 most legal restrictions to control COVID-19 have been lifted.  However, the government guidelines states that we are still in the third wave of this pandemic in the UK.

There are still cases of COVID-19 in England and the risk of catching and passing on the virus still exists even if you are fully vaccinated.

Therefore, we have been advised to continue to exercise caution and consider and manage the risks to ourselves and to others.

We all need to continue to act carefully and remain cautious and think about the actions we can take to help protect ourselves and others around us.

To this end, the leadership at UBC have decided on the following:

1. Social distancing - You no longer need to stay two metres apart from people you do not live with. However it is important to consider that others may wish to take a more cautious approach, and continue social distancing.  This is a personal choice which can help reduce the risk of catching or spreading the virus.  We are considerate of this and for that reason, will continue to provide the opportunity and space for people to reduce close contacts if they so wish.  Therefore social-distanced seating will continue during our worship services until at least the end of August.

2. Face Covering -The requirement to wear face coverings by law has been lifted.  However, the government expects and recommends that people wear face coverings in indoor crowded areas. During our worship services we have agreed to let people decide for themselves, whether to take off or leave on their masks. But we do advise that on entering the building you have your face mask on, and also at the end of the service, that you place your mask back on.  Again, this will continue until the end of August.

3. Singing - All restrictions have been lifted and we are now able to re-introduce corporate singing.

4. Personal hygiene - We shall continue to observe the guidelines on this, so please follow the hand-washing and sanitizing signs placed in the front porch and in the toilets.

5. After Service Fellowship - in order to phase things in, we are planning to have refreshments after the Sunday morning worship service once a month until the end of the year.  This will commence on the 5th September.

6. Communion – In August, we plan to return to serving communion using our traditional individual cups. The cut bread will be laid out on a tray so that each person can take a single piece. Members will be served in their seats.

Whilst there are no longer restrictions on group sizes for attending communal worship however we have taken the above actions to keep ourselves and others safe - everybody needs to continue to act carefully and remain cautious.

Every blessing,
